Progress has been made in the preparation of a Defence Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Scheme which will provide for certain increases in the rates of retired pay and pension payable under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes, 1937-1949, to officers and men retired or discharged subsequent to the 1st September, 1949. I hope to present the scheme to the House in the near future.
