Vol. 139 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Broadcasting Station—Site Development.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the purchase price and the annual maintenance costs of the premises and lands at Donnybrook, Dublin, bought for use as a headquarters or site for the radio broadcasting section of his Department, and if it has been decided to proceed with the development of the site and premises in view of the possibilities of television becoming practicable at a later date when it would be more advantageous to have a site at a higher altitude.

The purchase price of the premises referred to by the Deputy was £24,675 and the annual maintenance cost is approximately £600. No definite steps have so far been taken about developing the site. All the necessary technical considerations will be borne in mind at the appropriate time in connection with this matter.

Did I understand the Minister to say that the annual maintenance charge is £6,000?

No, £600. The site is used for keeping stores at the moment.

I misunderstood the figure.
