Vol. 141 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of Moore Park, Kilworth.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has any proposals for the development of Moore Park, Kilworth, with a view to giving employment, and if he will state (1) the total area of arable land on the estate; (2) the total area under tillage, and (3) if he has satisfied himself that as regards food production it is being worked by his Department as well as other arable land in the country.

It is proposed, on the enactment of enabling legislation, to transfer this property, of which about 450 acres are arable, to the Land Commission for sub-division. Pending such transfer the land is being let for grazing, which is considered to be the most economical way of administering the property. No portion of it is at present used for tillage purposes.

Is it particular legislation for this land or general legislation dealing with State lands to which the Parliamentary Secretary refers?

General legislation.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say when it is likely to be ready for introduction?

It is at a fairly advanced stage.

It has been at that for a long time but it never gets any further.
