Vol. 141 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Water Supply for Dundrum (Tipperary).

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the great danger to the health of the residents of Dundrum village, County Tipperary, by reason of the lack of a proper water supply; and, if not, whether he will arrange to have an inspection carried out as soon as possible by a responsible medical officer of health.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to state when the much needed water supply to Dundrum village, County Tipperary, will be commenced.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take questions Nos. 63 and 64 together.

The provision of a water supply for Dundrum is primarily a matter for the sanitary authority. The latter has included a supply for this village in the outlines of a regional scheme estimated to cost £131,500 which has been submitted to my Department. This scheme caters almost entirely for an agricultural demand. It will be understood that in view of the very high cost the proposals require very detailed examination. My views thereon will be conveyed to the sanitary authority as soon as possible.
