Vol. 141 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Officials in Semi-State Concerns.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he isaware that some of the holders of higher executive positions, in some semi-State concerns, are guaranteed their remuneration, even if subsequently placed in minor positions, by means of contracts which they have made with the boards of directors; and, if so, if he will convey to his nominated directors the inadvisability of continuing these contracts or entering into similar new contracts in view of possible changes in State policy which would make it undesirable that the services of these employees should be retained in the positions to which they had been appointed.

I have no information of any such contracts and I do not propose to interfere in the management of semi-State concerns to a degree greater than I am statutorily obliged to do.
