Vol. 141 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reason for the delay in carrying out the division of the Garrett-Nally estate, Roundfort, Claremorris, County Mayo.

The allotment of this estate cannot be undertaken pending the outcome of proceedings which have been instituted for the resumption of other adjoining lands.

These particular lands are quite a considerable time in hands now. Would the Minister ask the commissioners to proceed with the scheme because the area is large enough to go ahead with the scheme without waiting for additional land? If additional lands do come there can be a separate scheme.

The inspectors dealing with this matter have reported that in their view the acquisition of additional land will be necessary in order that the scheme should be successful.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commissionhave considered the propriety of acquiring the lands on the Dillon estate (C.D.B. Record No. U. 15796) County Mayo; and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition of the lands in question. An objection to acquisition has been lodged and will be heard in due course.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what scheme, if any, has been drawn up by his Department's inspectors with a view to ending the rundale system and relieving congestion in the townland of Toromin, parish of Bohola, Claremorris, County Mayo; and, further, the number of tenants he intends to migrate out of this townland and the amount of money allocated for the rearrangement of this townland.

Proceedings and inquiries are in hands to secure the rearrangement of holdings in this townland but it is not yet practicable to frame a detailed scheme in this matter.

Would the Minister ask the commissioners to give priority to this particular area because it is very bad?
