Vol. 143 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dispensary Patients.

asked theMinister for Health if he will state the number of new cases attended and registered during the year 1952-53 by dispensary medical officers (a) at dispensaries and (b) at patients' homes.

The information requested by the Deputy is compiled from returns furnished periodically by dispensary medical officers and all the returns for 1952-53 have not yet been received.

As stated in Appendix 12 of the Report of the Department of Health for 1951-52 (Pr. 1565), the number of cases attended by dispensary medical officers in that year was 749,423. It is not possible to segregate accurately between cases seen at the dispensaries and at the patients' homes, but from an investigation of a representative selection of returns, it is estimated that the number first seen at the dispensary was about 600,000.
