Vol. 144 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Galway Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (1) the date on which the Land Commission took possession of the Nolan estate, New-park, Loughrea, County Galway; (2) the amount of the purchase price; (3) the gross amount received from the lettings of these lands, and (4) when it is proposed to allot the lands.

The Land Commission obtained possession of the Nolan estate on 13th April, 1937; the price was £2,900, payable in Bonds.

Exact figures for revenue are not readily available but it is estimated that the net revenue has been £200.

Outline proposals for the division of the lands have been found to involve a great deal of exchange and rearrangement which inevitably leads to tedious and protracted negotiations with the adjoining land holders; it is not yet possible to say when a final scheme of division may be ready.
