Vol. 145 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Lands—Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance whether an application has been received by his Department from Cork County Council requesting leasing of State lands at Summer Cove, Kinsale, County Cork, for building of council houses; and, if so, if he will state what is the present position regarding the matter.

I presume that the property to which the Deputy refers is the site of the former coastguard station at Summer Cove, Kinsale, which was recently advertised by the Commissioners of Public Works for disposal by way of a 99 years' lease. A copy of the advertisement was sent to the Cork County Council; they did not submit any offer.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say if an application has been received in connection with the proposals to build the houses asked for on lease, outside any question of a public sale?

In connection with the letter which was sent to the Cork County Council, a reply was received this morning in which it is stated that the South Cork Committee did not have time to consider the matter, and asking if tenders would be considered. A reply is being sent stating that if a firm offer is made it will be considered.
