Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Dispensary.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the urgent necessity for a new dispensary at Ballintra, County Donegal; and, if so, if he will take the necessary steps to have such provided.

I am aware of the necessity for a new dispensary at Ballintra, County Donegal. On the 15th June last I sanctioned the purchase of a site in order that a new dispensary might be erected thereon. The matter is now in the hands of the local authority.

Would the Minister not consider it more economic to purchase an existing building which would be suitable as a dispensary and which would cost much less than the erection of a new one, in view of the fact that the buck has been passed from the Ministry back to the county council in June last, nine months ago?

Mr. Brennan

Is the Minister aware that tenders for that dispensary were considered too high and the local authority have decided to build it now by direct labour?

Why not adapt a house that is there?

Deputy O'Donnell did not hear that question.
