Vol. 147 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardee Phone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the serious inconvenience and dislocation of business being caused by the inadequate telephone service to the town of Ardee, County Louth; and, if so, if he will state whether he has any plans for the improvement of the service in the immediate future.

I am aware that there are delays on calls during the busy hours to and from Ardee due to shortage of circuits. Some temporary relief was given last year, but a cable scheme will have to be undertaken to give permanent relief. This is expected to be completed within about six months. In the meantime, interim relief will be given if at all practicable.
