Vol. 147 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ceanannus Mór.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that persons outside the Republic, who do not know the Irish language, are unable to trace telephone numbers of subscribers in Ceanannus Mór, as they know that town only by the English name of Kells, which name does not appear in the telephone directory; and, if so, if he will consider inserting in future issues of the directory the name "Kells" in brackets after "Ceanannus Mór" in each instance in which the latter name appears.

I am not aware of the difficulties referred to in the first part of the question. If any difficulties of the kind are experienced, the proper procedure is to make inquiry of the local exchange which will consult the directory inquiry centre at Dublin, if necessary. The course suggested in the second part of the question is not warranted apart from other considerations.
