Vol. 147 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cappamore (County Limerick) Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether proposals have been received by his Department from the Limerick County Council for the clearing of the derelict and condemned houses in the village of Cappamore, County Limerick; and, if so, when work on the project is likely to commence.

Proposals were received in my Department and approved for the acquisition and clearance of sites in the village of Cappamore containing a number of condemned houses, and for the erection on the sites of six new houses. All but four of the condemned houses have been demolished. These houses will be demolished also when the new houses have been erected. The acceptance of a tender for their erection was sanctioned on the 30th August last. I understand that the contractor has not yet completed a bond for the contract. Work cannot be commenced until this has been done.
