Vol. 147 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Suppliers' Publicity Campaign.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association's publicity campaign, advising the general public to eat more butter and drink more milk, will cost £10,000, and, if so, whether his Department or the Dairy Disposal Board will subscribe towards the cost.

I am aware that the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association proposes to conduct a publicity campaign designed to increase consumption of butter on the home market but I have no information as to the estimated cost of the campaign. As to the second part of the Deputy's question, my Department has no funds at its disposal out of which it could contribute to the cost of such publicity. The question of a contribution from the Dairy Disposal Company would be a matter for the board of that company but I feel sure they would be prepared to fall in with any arrangements which the co-operative creamery societies may decide upon as regards contributing to the cost of the publicity campaign.
