The total indebtedness of all local authorities (excluding harbour authorities, vocational education committees and county committees of agriculture) at 31st March, 1954, was approximately £94,677,000. The total amount of interest paid on stocks, loans and bank overdrafts of such authorities for year ended 31st March, 1954, was approximately £3,326,000. These figures are subject to audit.
