asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that Ulster was under-represented on the body which prepared the present code of Gaelic spelling and grammar, and, if so, if he will consider setting up another body of representative persons to examine the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Body to Examine Irish Spelling.
I am not cognisant of the precise degree of representation or recognition given to the Irish of any particular province by the body which prepared the present code of spelling, entitled Litriú na Gaeilge.
The booklet on grammar entitled Gramadach na Gaeilge has received no official recognition.
I do not propose to set up another body to examine the matter. I am convinced that such a step would lead to confusion in the schools and would further discourage publishers of textbooks in Irish.
