Receipts from firearm certificates are compiled in respect of years ending on 31st July. The following are the receipts for the years ending 31st July, 1952, 1953 and 1954: £89,151 15s.: £101,255 5s.; £96,394 10s. These figures include fees for "limited" certificates and certificates for rifles and revolvers. The receipts from certificates which authorise the shooting of game amount to, roughly, half the total in each case. The net receipts are transferred to the Exchequer as excise revenue.
