Vol. 147 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Scotch Wool Market.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will take steps to have a market obtained for the Scotch wool left on the hands of sheep owners in the Galtee Mountains area.

I understand that some farmers in the Galtee Mountains area were holding part of their 1954 Scotch wool clip in the hope that prices would increase later in the season but that in fact prices eased somewhat.

Wool is sold under free market conditions and there is no export or price restrictions. Consequently, any wool still held by farmers in the Galtee Mountains area should find a market in the normal way.
