Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

andMr. J.J. Collins asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether a comprehensive scheme for the drainage of the River Deel, County Limerick, is under consideration in his Department, and, if so, when work on the project is likely to commence.

It is not possible to say when the River Deel can be reached in the arterial drainage programme.

Has a commencement been made on a survey of the river?

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) when the survey of the Inny catchment area will be completed, and (b) when work on the project will commence.

The field survey of the River Inny catchment has been completed, and work on the plotting of the survey data and the design of a drainage scheme is in progress. Pending the preparation of a scheme and compliance with the requirements of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, as regards exhibition and confirmation, it is not possible to say when works can be commenced.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give particulars of work (i) in progress, and (ii) completed under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945.

Works have been completed on the Brosna catchment drainage scheme in Counties Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.

Schemes are in progress in the Glyde and Dee catchment area, Counties Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan; in the Feale catchment area, County Kerry; and in the Corrib-Clare catchment area, Counties Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

A scheme for the Nenagh river catchment area, Counties Tipperary (North Riding) and Offaly has been confirmed. A scheme for the repair and reconstruction of embankments at Rossmanagher, County Clare, under Part IV of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, has been sanctioned, and arrangements are being made to comply with the requirements of the Act prior to the commencement of works.

Field surveys, design and preparation of schemes are in progress for the catchment areas of the Rivers Moy (Counties Mayo and Sligo), Maine (County Kerry), Inny (Counties Cavan, Longford, Meath and Westmeath), and Suck (Counties Galway and Roscommon).

Surveys of three small catchment areas, namely, the Lee (County Kerry), Akeragh Lough/Banna (County Kerry) and Clareen river (County Tipperary, North Riding) have been completed.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when work on the drainage of the various rivers in County Dublin, including the Dodder, the Liffey, the Tolka and the Ward, will commence.

It is not possible to say when the rivers referred to by the Deputy can be reached in the arterial drainage programme.
