It is not possible to state the total number of persons insured under the Social Welfare Act, 1952, in Dublin County Borough at the end of each month. It is estimated, however, that the number of persons insured (inclusive of agriculture, fishing and private domestic service) in Dublin at the relevant period was 221,200. This estimate is based on the number of insurance cards exchanged at the local offices of the Department of Social Welfare in Dublin during the period January, 1954, to January, 1955.
