Vol. 150 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Coast Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is prepared to allocate a tourist road grant for the construction of the proposed coast road connecting Glenvar with Portsalon, County Donegal.

The initiation of any such scheme would be a matter for the Donegal County Council in the first instance and they have submitted no proposals therefor in connection with their current year's grant allocation for tourist roads.

Arising out of the reply of the Parliamentary Secretary, first of all am I to take it that this year's proposals have reached his Department and, secondly, would I be right in pointing out to the Parliamentary Secretary that our local authorities have nothing whatever to do with proposals that are sent for his approval and that that is why I am using my rights and my privileges in this House to draw attention to this position?

The County Management Amendment Bill, when passed, will return that power back to the members of the local authorities and if the Deputy would stop obstructing the passage of that Bill——

That cock will not fight.
