Vol. 153 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress has been made by the Land Commission in connection with the acquisition of the Molloy estate, Farney Castle, Thurles, County Tipperary, for division among deserving applicants in the area.

The lands to be acquired have been decided upon and proceedings are pending to determine the price.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Ryan estate, Thomastown, Birr, and, if so, with what result; further, when a scheme of allotment is likely to be put into effect.

The Ryan estate has been acquired and a portion of it has been allotted to forestry division. As regards the balance, which comprises almost 600 acres, it is yet too early to say when allotment may take place.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for division among the large number of congests in the area the farm of Mrs. Lillie Kivelehan, Killeenduff, Easkey, County Sligo, which is now being offered for sale; and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands but the matter has been noted.

asked the Minister for Lands what is the present position in regard to the proposal to acquire the lands of Dunsandle, Daly estate, near Athenry, County Galway, and when the Land Commission expect to be in a position to divide these lands among congests in the area.

These acquisition proceedings are continuing but it is not yet possible to say whether the lands will become available for division.
