Vol. 153 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bread Prices.

Mr. Lemass

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will specify in detail the changes made in the maximum controlled prices of batch and fancy breads which were effected by the Order made by him on 23rd August, 1955.

As indicated in the Press advertisment published on 31st August last, the Bread (Prices) Order, 1955, did not effect any change in the maximum prices of batch and fancy breads specified in the Bread (Prices) Order, 1952 (Amendment) Order, 1954, made on 26th April, 1954.

Mr. Lemass

Will the Minister explain why it was necessary to make the new Order?

I was hoping the Deputy would not ask that question. The necessity for it arose out of the fact that a printing error occurred during the Deputy's period of office.

Mr. Lemass

For which I take full responsibility.

I was prepared to exempt the Deputy.
