Vol. 153 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as follows:—Nos. 1, 9, 10, 3a, 11 to 13, inclusive. Private Members' business will be taken at 9 o'clock.

Will the Taoiseach say when it will be possible to take up No. 17—Local Government (Superannuation) Bill 1955—or when we may expect to hear something on that? The matter involves all local authorities. They are being pressed by those who are waiting.

I am sorry. I think I told the Deputy on an occasion about a fortnight ago that the Bill has been actually drafted for some time but it has given rise to considerable difficulties in the consideration of it between the various Departments interested. I spoke to the Minister for Local Government last week also and he assured me that he was quite satisfied that it would be out before Christmas.

Did the Taoiseach say "before Christmas"? I understood him to say in reply to Deputy Casey that it would be ready the first week in December.

That may be so.

It is a long way from that to Christmas.

It is not so long. When I said "before Christmas" I meant before we adjourn for the Christmas recess.

Will the Taoiseach say when that will be?

About the 13th December, I anticipate—the Wednesday. I think it is the 13th or 14th.
