Vol. 153 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Court Reference to Dublin Junction.

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been drawn to the remarks of a district justice in the Dublin Metropolitan District describing the junction of Rathgar Avenue and Garville Avenue as a death trap, and, if so, what steps the Garda Síochána authorities have taken, or propose to take, to have traffic lights erected at this junction.

The Commissioner of the Garda Síochána has informed me he does not consider that the flow of traffic at the junction referred to would justify him in requiring the corporation to erect traffic lights. In his opinion, adequate notice of the existence of the junction is provided by the warning signs erected on the roads converging on the junction and an overhead red flashing beacon at the junction itself.
