Vol. 154 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Orthopaedic Hospital Beds.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the number of unoccupied beds in the Orthopaedic Hospital, Gurranebraher, Cork, the number of patients awaiting admission to the institution, and the reason for the delay in having all available beds occupied.

I am informed by the local authority that the number of unoccupied beds in the Orthopaedic Hospital, Gurranebraher, Cork, on the 3rd instant was 29, that ten of these vacant beds are accounted for by the normal time lag between discharges and admissions and that the balance of 19 beds are in a ward block which was opened for the reception of patients only in the last few days.

I am also informed that the waiting list for orthopaedic hospital treatment in Cork is 361.
