Vol. 154 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Air Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, following the conclusion of the Anglo-Irish air talks, he is now in a position to make a statement concerning the possibility of establishing air services from Cork.

While the discussions initiated recently between officials of the British Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and of my Department have been completed, the proposals for amendment of the agreement have yet to be considered by both Governments. Until that has been done and the recognised procedure for the modification of agreements of this kind has been carried out, the Deputy will appreciate that I am not in a position to announce any details or to make a statement of the kind asked for by the Deputy.

Will the Minister place before whoever is considering this matter the report of the Meteorological Department on the advisability of having that airport in Ballygarvan?

The Deputy may be satisfied this whole matter is in safe hands.

It will not be long in the Minister's hands anyway.

The biggest misfortune that ever could befall Cork would be that it should fall into the Deputy's hands.

It would be in good hands.
