Vol. 154 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bishopstown (Cork) Schools.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has authorised the erection of new schools at Bishopstown, near Cork City, and, if so, when building operations are likely to be put in hands.

A grant has been sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of erecting a new national school for infant boys and girls at Bishopstown, near Cork City.

Certain preliminary arrangements will have to be made by the Commissioners of Public Works before they will be in a position to invite tenders for the erection of the new building. These arrangements will necessarily take a considerable time to complete, but they will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible, having regard to the many other cases on hands which demand attention.

I am not at present in a position to say when it is likely that building operations will be commenced.
