Vol. 154 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford County Hospital Patients.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the number of adult patients admitted to the orthopaedic unit of the Waterford County Hospital during the past three months, and if he will indicate (a) how many were from the Waterford City and County health district, and (b) how many were private patients not sent by any health authority.

I am informed that the total number of adult patients admitted to the orthopaedic unit at the County Hospital, Waterford, during the three months ended 31st January, 1956, was 82. Of this total, 52 were from the Waterford City and County health district, and 11 were private patients not sent in by any health authority. I understand that nine of the 11 private patients were admitted as emergencies suffering from acute conditions.
