asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of 1955 the turnover of the catering and hostel section at Shannon Airport and the profit earned; and if he will give similar particulars in regard to the shops at the airport.

The accounting year of the Shannon Airport catering service ends on 31st January. Audit of the accounts for the year ended 31st January, 1956, has not yet been completed. The turnover of the service for the year ended 31st January, 1955, was £656,112, including the hostels and shops. The total amount brought to account from the catering service to the credit of the Exchequer for that year in respect of profit as well as depreciation and interest was £83,722. It is expected that the results for the year ended 31st January, 1956, will show a substantial increase.
The operations of the catering service are viewed as a whole and separate figures of turnover or profits are not issued in respect of the individual departments of that service.
