Vol. 158 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parents' Visits to Borstal Institutions.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in view of the great inconvenience and expense caused to the majority of parents travelling to see their children in St. Patrick's Borstal, Clonmel, he is prepared to introduce a scheme of free travel for such parents, or otherwise to facilitate them in making more frequent and less expensive visits.

I am aware of the hardship caused to parents who have to travel long distances to visit their sons who are inmates of St. Patrick's, Clonmel, and wish to assure the Deputy that in considering future plans for the Borstal I will bear in mind the desirability of facilitating more frequent visits by parents.
