Vol. 158 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holidays for Post Office Labourers.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will grant two weeks' holidays, with pay, to casual labourers in his Department, who have been continuously employed for a period of 12 months.

Casual labourers employed in my Department are allowed annual leave in accordance with Section 10 of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1939, i.e., at the rate of one week for 12 months' service for their first two continuous periods of 12 months' service. Thereafter, they are allowed two weeks' leave for each continuous period of 12 months' service.

These arrangements appear to work satisfactorily.
