Vol. 158 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Medical Cards.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of Limerick City the number of applications received for medical cards, the number rejected, and the number granted.

Up to 31st May, 1956, 3,909 applications for medical cards had been received in respect of persons resident in Limerick City, 193 were refused, 55 were under consideration and 3,661 had been granted.

Would the Minister say if there is any right of appeal from such refusals?

No; no right of appeal exists.

Would the Minister not consider that such a thing is desirable, in fact, essential?

That is a separate question.

I know it is, but maybe the Minister would be gracious enough to indicate his views?

I shall certainly consider it.
