Vol. 160 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arterial Drainage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance what arterial drainage schemes will be completed in the current year; what schemes are being prepared; and what schemes will be started during the year 1957.

No arterial drainage scheme will be completed in the current year; the Glyde and Dee and the Feale schemes are nearing completion.

Schemes are in various stages of preparation for the following catchments, which are listed in alphabetical order.

Akeragh Lough-Banna.

County Kerry.

Ballyteigue

County Wexford.

Boyne

Counties Cavan, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.

Cahore

County Wexford.

Clareen

County Tipperary.

Deele and Swilly Burn.

County Donegal.

Inny

Counties Cavan, Longford, Meath and Westmeath.

Maine

County Kerry.

Moy

Counties Mayo and Sligo.

Suck

Counties Galway and Roscommon.

I am not in a position at this stage to say what schemes will be started during the year 1957.

Surely, as we are now so close to the end of the year 1956, the Parliamentary Secretary should be in a position to indicate what schemes are likely to be started in 1957? Surely it is not on the day the new year commences that those schemes are formulated?

I am working very hard on them.

You are getting very poor results.

I will show results.
