Vol. 160 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expansion of Industrial Activity.

Major de Valera

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what measures he proposes for the expansion of industrial activity in the City and County of Dublin in order to increase the employment capacity of industry and business in the area and to compensate for the present rising trend in unemployment.

Industrial policy aims at creating and maintaining conditions which will facilitate and encourage private enterprise in the setting up and expansion of industrial units; and, as the Deputy is aware, legislative proposals have been introduced which are designed to provide further incentives to industrial expansion. The Dublin area enjoys advantages over other areas in attracting industrial projects and I have no doubt that Dublin will share in the industrial expansion expected to follow upon the measures referred to.
