The estimated average daily consumption of liquid milk per head of the population in the State in 1955 was 0.81 pints. The corresponding estimates available to the Central Statistics Office are for Great Britain and the Six Counties 0.71 pints, for Denmark 0.59 pints and for the United States 0.75 pints. In 1954, the estimate for Sweden was 1,04 pints while in 1953/54 that for Norway was 0.92 pints.
