Vol. 163 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Employment Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state how much of the additional £250,000 provided for employment schemes will be allocated to Dublin.

I regret that I am not yet in a position to give the information the Deputy has asked for. I hope to be able to do so within a week. As I informed the Deputy on the 4th June there is still a substantial carry-forward of uncompleted works in operation in the city.

Is it possible that after two months in office the Minister cannot say what measures of relief the Government intends to give the unemployed or does the money exist at all?

Wait and see.

Is it unfair to suggest that the money should be put to use before the remainder of the unemployed leaves the country?

More money was spent on the relief of unemployment in this State this year than at this time last year.

There are more unemployed also.
