Vol. 164 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Fishing Rights.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether his Department received early this year a tender from Tralee and District Anglers' Association for the rights to fish a certain river in County Kerry, and, if so, if he will now state why the tender was not accepted.

I presume the Deputy refers to the State fishing rights on parts of the River Laune. Earlier this year the Commissioners of Public Works, following public advertisement, accepted an offer submitted by the Tralee and District Anglers' Association for a letting of those rights. The association declined, however, to complete the transaction in accordance with the conditions on which the offer had been invited and the acceptance of their offer had in the circumstances to be withdrawn.
