The salary of the chairman of Bord Fáilte Éireann is at the rate of £500 a year. In addition, travelling and subsistence allowances at the rates appropriate to civil servants of the highest grade are payable to him in respect of journeys undertaken on the business of the board. The appointment, which is for a period of five years from the 1st July, 1957, is on a part-time basis but he is required to devote so much of his time to his duties as is necessary for their proper and efficient discharge.
