Vol. 165 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathgar Traffic Accidents.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of traffic accidents reported as having occurred at the junction of Garville Avenue and Rathgar, Avenue, during each of the years 1955, 1956, and 1957, and to the latest date this year; and if it is proposed to erect traffic lights at this junction.

The figures are 2, 6, 5 and 1. I have no function in relation to the erection of traffic lights. The Commissioner, Garda Síochána, has informed me that he does not consider that the flow of traffic at the junction in question would justify him in requiring the corporation to erect traffic lights there, at any rate while there are many other junctions in the city at which there is a greater need for them. Notice of the existence of the junction is given by warning signs on the approaches to it and by a flashing light overhead.
