Vol. 165 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dairying Industry: Government Policy.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the policy of the Government with regard to the dairying industry.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply in this connection to a question by Deputy Lynch on the 5th December last.

Suppose the Minister told it to us again?

I know the Deputy is energetic. He can go back and look up the records just as well as myself.

The dairy farmers want to know if there will be an increase or a reduction or whether the price for milk will remain at its present level.

Tell them it will be left at the same price.

The Deputy has not asked me that question. When I find myself in a position to make the announcement, it will be made.

The Minister can tell them that it will be left at the same price.

It will not be 1/- a gallon.

I will go back on the replies which the Deputy, as Minister, received.

from the creameries all over the country.

I know ye well.

You are in a bit of a mess now.

He promised an increase of 6d. a gallon.

Order! Question No.71.

Does the Minister propose to resign?

Order! Question No.71.

I have not made up my mind yet.

The quicker the Minister does so, the better it will be for the farmers.

Order! Question No. 71.

I should like the Chair to afford special opportunities to Deputy T.F. O'Higgins in the way of asking supplementary questions.

Every Deputy will receive the same opportunity, as provided by Standing Orders.

Deputy T.F. O'Higgins is well-trained and knows how to behave himself.

I am delighted with the Minister's regard for me.

I have called Question No. 71 on several occasions. There have been interruptions from both sides of the House. I must ask Deputies to desist.

The Minister himself is interrupting.
