Vol. 165 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Rehabilitation Project.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make a statement as to the future of the land rehabilitation project, in view of the fact that many applications cannot be dealt with owing to the reduction in moneys provided for it; further, if he can guarantee the full working operation of the project until it has achieved its purpose, and until all land suitable for the project has been reclaimed.

I am at present considering what alterations in the conditions of the land project should be made. The Deputy may rest assured that moneys will continue to be made available for land reclamation.

Is it not a fact that the Minister's Department has sent instructions to various district officers to slow down on the different schemes and discourage them as much as possible?

It is not a fact.

Is it not a fact that, even though such instructions may not have been sent either by letter or circular, verbal instructions have been given?

It is not a fact.

Time will tell. You promised 45/- a barrel for barley.
