Vol. 167 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Motor Cycle Team in International Tattoo.

asked the Minister for Defence whether an Army motor cycle team is participating in an International Tattoo at Santry, County Dublin, during the week commencing on 21st May; and, if so, if he will state the number of motor cycles engaged, the type of machines to be used, the year of manufacture of each such machine, and whether the machines are out of date.

An Army motor cycle team will be participating in the tattoo mentioned. Approximately 50 motor cycles will be engaged, all B.S.A. 500 c.c. machines which were manufactured in 1944.

By comparison with more recent models these motor cycles might be regarded as out of date. As a result of careful maintenance and economical use, however, they are still quite serviceable for the purposes for which they are normally used and also for the purposes for which they will be used at the tattoo.
