Vol. 169 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aircraft for Shannon Air Show.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the reasons for his refusing the request of the Shannon Aero Club for the participation of aircraft of the Air Corps in the club's An Tóstal air show at Shannon Airport.

The training programme arranged for the Air Corps did not allow of the participation of Air Corps aircraft in the show mentioned.

Did the same state of affairs not apply last year when permission was given for them to cooperate and could not the same arrangement have been made this year?

The fact is that the training programme of the Air Corps did not allow their participation and it is for purposes of being trained that they are there.

Could the Minister explain how it took over five weeks to get a reply?

I do not know if that is so.

If the programme was arranged a reply could have been given——

I do not know whether it took five weeks or not.

I have the evidence here before me.
