Vol. 169 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Tipperary Forestry Worker's Bonus.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to make operative the bonus to forestry workers in North Tipperary; and if he will state the terms of the bonus.

I am not at present in a position to state when the incentive bonus scheme will be introduced in North Tipperary but the area has been noted for attention at the earliest possible date.

The scheme provides for payment to each worker of a guaranteed minimum weekly wage on time-rate, with additional earnings for productivity in excess of a certain level. Productivity is uniformly measured by job evaluation in terms of standard allowance per unit of work, such evaluation being on a work-study basis. Part of the incentive bonus is subject to work quality requirements to ensure satisfactory workmanship.

I intend to give more detailed information regarding the scheme when the Forestry Estimate comes before the House.
