Vol. 171 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Printing of Mother Mary Aikenhead Stamp.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the name and address of the printer who received the contract for the printing of the Mother Mary Aikenhead stamp and the amount concerned.

The contract for the printing of the Mother Mary Aikenhead stamp was placed with Messrs. Waterlow & Sons, Limited, London, for production at their works in Brussels.

It would be contrary to established practice to disclose the amount of the contract.

Was that stamp produced by the recess process?

It was? Is the Minister sure of that?

At least the contract says so.

Did the Minister look at the stamp?

Did the Minister give any firm in this country an opportunity to print the stamp?

It was decided to have the stamp printed by the recess process, which meant, in effect, that no firm in this country could compete for it.

Would the Minister state who made that decision?
