Vol. 173 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Shannon Weir Licences.

11.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of weir licences in respect of the lower Shannon taken out by the E.S.B. for the 1959 fishing season; and whether, in view of the loss of employment caused by the reduction in the number of weirs operated, he will state whether he now has any information in relation to the future policy of the board in this matter.

I am informed that the number of stake net licences taken out by the E.S.B. in the Limerick Fishery District in 1959 is 4, which is the same as in 1958 and for a number of years past.

The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

I should like to give notice of my intention to raise the subject matter of Question No. 6 on the Adjournment. As the Minister for Health has left the House, I shall raise it next week.

Not this evening.

The Deputy will have to raise it again.
