Vol. 174 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dungarvan Accommodation Road.

52.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht whether he is aware that the accommodation road in the townland of Ballynaharda, Old Parish, Dungarvan, has been omitted from the Schedule to the Gaeltacht Areas Order, 1956, and thus is not qualified to have money from the Gaeltacht grant for County Waterford spent on it; and since this district is in the heart of the Gaeltacht district of Old Parish and since houses built in the area have been built under the Gaeltacht Housing Scheme, if he will take steps to have the area included in the Schedule.

Is eol dom nár háiríodh Baile Fearainn Bhaile na hÁirde mar Ghaeltacht in Ordú na Límistéirí Gaeltachta, 1956. Níltear ar intinn i láthair na huaire, ámh, an tOrdú sin a leasú. Má bhíonn sé i gceist aon leasú a dhéanamh ar an Ordú ar ball breithneofar cás an Bhaile Fearainn sin.

In view of the fact that I put this question to the Minister in the English language, I wonder, through you, Sir, could I ask that, out of courtesy, the reply be given to me in the language in which I asked it so that I may be able to let my constituents know what it is.

I shall give the reply in English, if the Deputy wishes. I am only following the practice laid down by my predecessor.

And I objected to your predecessor doing it.

I am aware that Ballynaharda, Old Parish, Dungarvan, was not reckoned as a Gaeltacht in the Gaeltacht Areas Order, 1956. It is not proposed at present, however, to amend this Order. Should the question of amending the Order arise later, the case of this townland will be considered.
