Vol. 174 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Oil Refinery.

7.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether steps have been taken to secure export markets for the products of the Cork oil refinery, as such markets are the key to the economic success of the refinery; whether it is considered that the proposed refinery in the Six Counties will have an adverse effect on the Cork refinery as regards the price of the product; and whether the Government have taken any steps in the matter.

The matter referred to in the first part of the Deputy's Question relates to the internal arrangements of Irish Refining Company, Limited. I have no more information about the possibility of a refinery being established in the Six Counties other than that contained in recent newspaper reports but I do not see the relevance of the matter in the context to which the Deputy refers.
