asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have any plan for the relief of congestion in the townland of Cloongownagh, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo; and if the propriety of acquiring lands in the locality is being considered.

Agreement has recently been reached with the owner for the purchase of a 40 acre outfarm for relief of congestion in this townland and no opportunity will be missed of procuring further land as circumstances permit.

asked the Minister for Lands what steps are being taken to relieve congestion in the townland of Barnagurry, County Mayo; and if the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring a vacant holding the name of which has been supplied to his Department.

The Land Commission are investigating the feasibility of obtaining land for the relief of congestion in this townland. The holding referred to has been considered but it is not available, having been recently purchased by a local smallholder.

Would the Minister say if the Land Commission have carried out a congestion survey in that area?

They are in process of carrying out a congestion survey.
